Finding Fun in Royal City

Hello everyone!

We’ve spent a few weeks here in Royal City and it has just FLOWN by. It’s dark by the time Geoff is done with work, so most of our fun things happen over the weekend. Although it doesn’t feel like we’ve done a lot, the pictures say otherwise.

Picking grapes for my cousins wine. I think he’s making it in to a Riesling?

It’s been a fun few weeks. We’ve gotten a lot done work-wise and are really excited to go on vacation. Yes, through this whole trip Geoff hasn’t taken any vacation time so we are heading off to use it all up!

We are still praying about where we should be and are getting closer to a decision. We will let everyone know when we come to a final decision!

Weee’reeee Baaacckkk!

I apologize for the long lapse in posts everyone. Life gets busy sometimes… So, lets start with where we left off.

The first weekend in October, we met up with Geoff’s old roommates from college. We rented an awesome house that slept 9 in Morro Bay and spent the weekend catching up, eating, surfing, playing a legendary game of bocce ball (Geoff and I won!) and relaxing.

After our wonderful weekend, Geoff headed to London for a work conference and I headed back to my parents for a weekend at home.

Geoff’s photos weren’t as cool. I think most of his time was spent either in a bar or at the office.

Yellowstone postcards to anyone who can guess why Geoff took a photo of the bathroom… Yup, we bought some and never sent them.

He also put Mack Webb pictures all over a friend’s desk and took one picture of the London Bridge

Oh and you can’t forget the weird murals of the half naked ladies in the bar conference room. WTF?

We’ve got another post coming with updates of everything post-London and Royal City. I’ll get it out soon!

Happy America Day

The last few days have been full of activity. July 3rd was my aunt’s surprise birthday party, so we spent some time down in the crik (alternatively known as canyon for people who haven’t heard how ranching creek dwellers talk) with the Stewart clan. It was great to see that side of my family before our big trip. The men always seem to congregate together, drinking beer outside. The girls were fortunate enough for a lovely performance from the little ones (see pic below).

Geoff and I spent the 4th of July in my uncle Marc’s nice new boat. It was cool to see how the surf gate worked. Makes me wonder what they’ll come up with next to make wakes bigger and better! We surfed some, then went to a beach to hang out with a group of other people. I’m pretty sure Geoff sold a young man on going to school at Cal Poly.

After spending the day on the water, we had a small group of people over to the Janett house to light off fireworks. Kaylee, cousin Jeff, and Chase did most of the lighting. It made me tired watching them run back and forth to light off bottle rockets, roman candles, mortars, and any other fireworks we had.

All in all, we had a great Independence Day. Hope everyone else did as well!

First Stop: Royal City

Geoff and I left Friday night (June 28) and caravanned to Royal City with the Jeep and the Canyon. It was weird leaving Seattle knowing that we wouldn’t be back for months.

Bye Seattle

We spent Saturday and Sunday on the lake with family and friends. After spending 12+ hours on the lake in two days, we definitely had our fair share of sun, wakeboarding, wakesurfing, ice cream, and bug bites. Since we won’t be on a boat for the rest of the summer (unless we get really good at making friends with people in new places) we are trying to get in as much as we can!

This week is Geoff’s first week working remotely and it’s going pretty well. We have a desk set up for him in Kaylee’s room and he is surprisingly able to get stuff done amid the many distractions that the full Janett house has.

It’s also been very hot. Royal is usually in the mid 80s during the summer but this week has been high 90s and even up to 102. Kaylee, my mom and I were in Spokane on Monday and drove through wheat country on the way back. It was 108 outside!
